The National Child Protection Alliance is a National Network of NGOs working in the area of Child Protection primarily established to initiate child rights and child protection movement in Nepal with the voluntary initiatives of NGOs.

    Background Information of National Child Protection Alliance (NCPA)

    National Child Protection Alliance (NCPA) is a national network of NGOs working on Child Protection Issues all over the nation. NCPA is established in 2010 focusing on working to develop solidarity, actions, and campaign against all forms of violence, abuse, and discrimination that void the rights of children. We have been continuously raising our voices at the International, National, and Local Arena to promote a child-protective environment and system. The NCPA has a member of 50 organizations from Seven Provinces that are working in 28 districts and 5 metropolitan cities, 7 sub-metropolitan cities, 59 municipalities, and 30 rural municipalities.

     

    Objectives of NCPA

    1. With the goal to make the respective stakeholders accountable in order to absolutely ensure the rights of the children to have protection, this alliance has undertaken the following objectives:
    2. Promote and advocate different dimensions of the rights to protection of the children in changing circumstances and framework
    3. Organize necessary programs to enhance the capacity of organizations and agencies working for child protection
    4. Forge common understanding and perspectives in this subject among the organizations working for child protection, and promote cooperation, coordination and solidarity amongst them
    5. Motivate child protection resource mapping and referral system of the member organizations working for child protection
    6. Encourage and reward the organization and individuals contributing to the child Protection sector.

    Thematic Areas

    Though this alliance can include all the dimensions of child rights and child protection, and in the present context, different distinctive networks have been established and working on different distinct problems of child protection, this alliance have considered the following issues of child protection as its respective working area;

    Child labor: One of the major working areas of this alliance is the protection, release and reintegration of the fundamental rights of the children involved in child labor specially focused to Brick Kiln, Carpet factory and Jari in Nepal.

    Strengthening Child Protection System: NCPA works towards strengthening Child Protection System through advocacy with the concerned government bodies for the implementation of policies and Acts related to Child Protection.

    Child protection in crisis situation: The protection concern of the children from different risks during the period of different natural calamities, events and accidents and conflict, commotion & turmoil.

    A) 28 districts and 5 metropolitan cities, 7 sub-metropolitan cities, 59 municipalities, and 30 rural       municipalities

    6. All Projects/Programs personnel of NCPA shall promote Honesty, Integrity, Sincerity, and Transparency in all activities.

    Management Structure with Leadership Pattern

    Annual General Meeting is the supreme authority of the NCPA. It brings any amendment to the organizational structure. The Annual General Meeting of the network confirms the yearly organizational activities and accounts. General Assembly elects the 13 members Board of Directors for two years period. The Board of Directors is responsible and accountable to Annual General Meeting for its work and organizational management. This is the body accountable for the effective smooth functioning of the organizational activities. NCPA Board of Directors appoints the staff members as assigned by the Board of Directors.

The mission of an National Child Protection Alliance is to address a specific social or environmental issue and work towards positive change. NCPA aim to make a meaningful impact by providing assistance, advocating for policy reforms, raising awareness, and empowering communities. NCPA's mission is driven by a commitment to creating a better and more equitable world.

The vision of an NCPA is to create a world where social and environmental justice prevails, where every individual has access to basic rights and opportunities, and where sustainable development is prioritized. The NCPA's vision inspires and guides its actions, initiatives, and advocacy efforts, driving them towards a future where all individuals can thrive, live in harmony with nature, and enjoy a high quality of life.

    • Contribute on Capacity Enhancement of agencies and organizations working in the area of Child Protection.
    • Establish Common view, coordination and solidarity among civil society actors on child protection in Nepal.
    • Establish Referral mechanisms among child protection NGOs for required interventions on child protection.
    • Award NGO/Individual/Children’s Organization and Community Organization for their significant contribution on Child Protection.
